About the Attractions

Manavgat River Yacht Tour from Side

  • Yacht tours can be enjoyed not only on the sea but also on rivers. A river cruise will add variety to your holiday and provide a break from the beach routine.

Location

  • The Manavgat River is one of Turkey’s largest and deepest waterways. It stretches 93 kilometers long and 40-50 meters wide. It’s a fairly full-flowing river with crystal-clear, cool water of a beautiful turquoise hue. The Manavgat’s source is formed by several springs on the slopes of the Western Taurus, at an altitude of about 1350 meters, and is also fed by underground sources.
  • Two dams were built on the river: Manavgat and Oymapınar, as well as trout farms. Its waters nourish the plains, considered the most fertile in Antalya province, where fruits, vegetables, cotton, and cereals are grown.
  • The riverbanks are also a National Park with rich flora and fauna, home to a large number of birds and animals.
  • Dividing the city of the same name into two parts, the river flows into the Mediterranean Sea. The spot where the cold river water meets the warm sea water is particularly popular with tourists. Besides offering a unique sensory experience, the sharp temperature contrast has a toning and rejuvenating effect.

Tour Experience

  • The Manavgat River Yacht Tour is almost a full-day excursion. In the morning, our bus will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the port. Here, you will board a spacious and comfortable three-deck yacht and set off on an exciting journey. Enjoy scenic landscapes, watch pelicans, and spot river turtles in the clear waters.
  • At the confluence of the river and the sea, the yacht will make a 45-minute stop. You can disembark on the shore, sunbathe on the white sandy beach, swim in the river, sea, or both, feeling the warm current alternate with the cool one.
  • While you relax and swim, lunch is being prepared on the yacht.
  • After lunch, the second part of the tour begins—a sea cruise.
  • The yacht will sail along the sea coast and return to the pier.
  • After leaving the yacht, you’ll board buses and head to Side’s most famous attraction—the Manavgat Waterfall, located in a picturesque forest park.
  • The Manavgat Waterfall is not a natural attraction but man-made. It’s a dam that ensures the proper functioning of the Oymapınar reservoir. The waterfall is only 2 meters high but spans 40 meters wide. Viewing platforms on both sides offer the best views. Descending to the water is strictly prohibited due to the strong current and low water temperature, even in the heat, not exceeding +10°C.
  • Interestingly, the waterfall was once featured on a 5 lira banknote, though these bills are no longer in circulation.
  • During this tour, you will also have 1.5 to 2 hours of free time to visit the Manavgat Bazaar. If you love shopping or are looking for souvenirs to bring back from Turkey, this is the place to be. It’s the largest market where you can find everything from jewelry to handmade souvenirs. Special attention should be given to national sweets, fresh spices, fruits, and vegetables.
